Even with the new physics though a lot of old skips and strats still work or only require minor adjustments to make work, which was nice to see. Pretty much all those narrow pathway levels are awful now. The main area where I notice a difference is trying to balance on narrow pathways, it feels a lot more difficult to keep steady than in the originals. Still have the DX levels and some of the bonus modes to play, but so far the physics are for the most part ok. Never played most of the SMB1 levels back in the day, and man does it have some really painful ones. Beat the story mode and all the SMB1/2 challenge modes (other than marathon). The modes difficulty should lie in getting the most points, getting bananas, trying to go to the next island when you know you probably shouldn't - not in staying afloat for 10 meters to begin with.įinally got around to playing this. Getting them to find the sweet spot so that they don't immediately tumble into the water is not fun. You can adjust to the controls but they are not fun - it's also basically impossible to play with someone who doesn't play videogames that often. I gave Monkey Target another shot but it's basically unplayable. Annoying as hell!Īnd it's also pretty frustrating that they had the stroke of genius to do guest characters but then don't allow them for the party games.

It also almost always chugs just a tiny bit when I use the camera on the last bridge to adjust for the last hazard. Seesaw Bridge is a nightmare, that last bridge is basically impossible for me atm. It might be me not being able to adjust to the new controls, but I miss the GCN controller octagon and the old controls.

It might also be my memory messing with me but the monkeys feel slightly more floaty in this one. As you might expect from the blue blur, Sonic is blazingly fast, but the nostalgia trip doesn’t end there. After a few hours more with the game I'm pretty frustrated - it seems to chug just ever so slightly in unfortunate situations on switch docked and the controls feel slightly off to the point where I never feel quite in control and more often like I'm at the grace of the camera. While the game will feature numerous obvious updates, such as improved graphics, it will also include optimized control schemes for each platform to make up for the lack of motion controls (Nintendo Switch notwithstanding).Īccording to Sega’s Twitter feed, players can unlock Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, which is a first for the Monkey Ball franchise. The original Banana Blitz was a Nintendo Wii exclusive, but the HD port will launch on multiple consoles. For Banana Blitz HD, the company opted to insert its mascot as a “secret” playable character.Īs some of you know, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is the HD remaster of the game by the same name. The upcoming game features a bushel of encapsulated simians, but it wouldn’t be a true Sega experience without a reference to another Sega title. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD doesn’t monkey around when it comes to characters.
